History
The story of Godzone began in 2003 in the small town of Sliač, where a group of young people came together with a desire to seek and worship God. Over time, the SP community was formed and began to grow. A passion for revival emerged, along with a desire to serve, encourage, create, inspire, unite, and proclaim the risen Christ in a way that speaks to people today.
One of the first impulses for evangelization was the Freedom festival in Nevoľné. Following this event, the Youth Council of the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia extended an invitation to organize a series of evangelization concerts across the country as part of Church Week for Youth. This led to the first tour in 2009, called Enter the Godzone Tour, which later became known simply as the Godzone Tour. At the time, the program included two music bands, a DJ, and a rapper. Interest in these evangelization events grew rapidly.
Godzone was formally established in 2010 as a response to the Catholic Church’s call to enter into the new evangelization—new in fervor, methods, and expression. Motivated by a desire to serve with dedication and professionalism, the Godzone office was founded in Sliač, with a focus on planning and carrying out a wide range of initiatives and activities.
In 2012, the vision of Generation KIOBK – a Generation for Whom God’s Kingdom Matters – became part of our mission. It is about young people who have decided to step out of mediocrity, bring a new culture of the Kingdom, and dedicate everything they have – their time, talents, and lives – into God’s hands.
During the pandemic in 2020, we produced a film, and in 2021, the Godzone Tour was broadcast online and on television, reaching an audience of over 100,000 viewers.
We regularly take part in various national and international projects, including the National Youth Meetings R13, P15, P18; World Youth Day in Krakow;Pope Francis’s visit to Slovakia in 2022; and the Jubilee of Youth at the Vatican during the Jubilee Year 2025.
Our main motivation is not image, ambition, or activism, but the compassion we feel for young people hungry for meaning, truth, and life. It is Christ’s love that drives and transforms us. We long to tirelessly expand the territory of our King – His zone, His Kingdom – and to bring the Gospel wherever people are.
