First of all, it should be emphasized that this project is under the umbrella of the Youth Council of the Bishops’ Conference of Slovakia. This is not an event about which we know nothing. Anyone who visits Godzone can see that priests are present. So, if anyone has any concerns or doubts about the concert itself, I tell them that priests are available to administer the sacrament of reconciliation.
Godzone is like a spiritual place for purification. Thousands of young people gather in one place and sing songs about Jesus. They join together in communal prayer. When I stood before them, I spoke about the Virgin Mary, and at the end, they received a blessing with great focus. Is it all good? I think it’s wonderful! Of course, there are also those who are still searching, and perhaps something new will begin to grow in them there.
The lyrics of the songs at Godzone have a rational core. The emotions that arise during the music can serve as a channel for receiving deep meaning. When preaching, priests often tell a story first and then share the essence. Jesus also engaged with the imagination and emotions of people when he told stories and parables. But He made deeds and everyday practice the true measure of truly receiving the message.
